Dont forget gas. They don't sell gas at the track, and there is no station anywhere nearby the track. Fill your tank about 3/4 or so should do it, a full tank can slop out the overflow or fillercap and makes a mess (especially for the guy behind you who spins in it!).

I had second thoughts about recommending this, didn't want you to get too much info and get a little crazy about it (hahaha). See the post below "properly set up chassis" Lots of input on what to bring (keep it simple), what to do beforehand etc. My best recomendation is finish checking out the car 3-4 days before, eat a good dinner and get a good nights sleep the night before, and drink fluids and stay out of the sun as much as possible while at the track. The weakest link will be you and your endurance. Your experience at autoX should tell you something about this.

Oh, be sure to post any pictures after the event.

Good Luck

Don

I've got two 5 gal dump cans I'm throwing into Bill K's trailer. We'll fill them up just outside the track and top off the tanks.

Son of a female dog!!!!!!

Ughhhh, I think I may have indecided myself right out of a spot for Saturday. On Friday, when I had first decided not to go, I e-mail Joe at PDA and stated I had second thoughts and wanted to cancel. He sent me an e-mail first thing Saturday morning, stating he had sent a refund. I called him about 1/2 hour after he sent that e-mail and discussed my concerns with him. He convinced me that I should come. I agreed and said I would be there.

I just got an e-mail from him, stating my spot had been given to another driver, and the class was full. He said if there was another cancellation, I could go. He stated there were open spots for Sunday, but I really wanted to go on Saturday. I'm a little confused about this, as when I talked to him Saturday, we agreed that I was still coming, and I said "See you there". He didn't tell me then that the spot was already gone. I'm hoping I can squeeze my way in.

Now I feel like a total jacka$$.

Wish me luck.

Steve

Steve,
I was just down at PDA picking up a case of oil. Spoke to Joe. He said that more than likely he will be getting a cancellation or two before Sat. Says it always happens. Also, He gets some no-shows on track day.

klayfish 07-17-2002 05:35 AM

Roscoe,
Perhaps you persuaded him enough to let me back in. I had also sent him an e-mail saying lots of Cobras are coming Saturday, and I'd like to be with them. Anyway, I got an e-mail late yesterday stating they put me back on the roster. So, I'm back in.

Now I think I'm just going to shut the hell up before I do something else stupid. :D

See ya Saturday!!

Steve

Steve,

Shut up, get in, start it up and GO!

I understand your concern, but after one session you will feel much better. Get the 'lay of the land' and use your head.

Plenty of us will be on hand to help you out. Cranky and I are going as spectators. Cranky plans on doing some tire temps for a couple of guys and we will be more than happy to help you out, answer questions, turn wrenches, whatever is needed.

Everyone gets nervous, I know I still do. But after you learn a few things, you get pumped up and it overwhelms you. Its a great feeling!

See you Saturday!!

JM

John,
That's exactly what I said in my last post. I'm just going to keep my mouth closed, so I don't say or do anything else stupid. Now that I look back on it, I feel dumb as hell for going through all that. And I'm sure after Saturday, I realize ever more how ridiculous I was. But oh well, I ain't perfect. Now I'm really excited and can't wait to get there. Thanks again.

Steve

P.S. Thanks for all the offers of help and the in-car camera mounting, I'll definitely use it. I'm not a mechanic, but I can offer one help if someone wants. I will be bringing my digital camera with me. So anyone who wants some digital photos, bring a standard 3.5 inch HD floppy disk, and I'll snap some photos for you. Or someone else can snap them when I'm driving. :D

Roscoe 07-17-2002 07:58 AM

Hey Fuggedaboudit,

I made him an offer he can't refuse! Badda Bing!

I have one last project before I'm ready to load the car and pack up the tools and tires....I'm fabricating a throttle cable bracket to take up about 1" of slack so that my gas pedal is even with the clutch and brake pedals....seems I was cheated out of full throttle....it only went about three-quarters of the way to wide-open-throttle....I'll be anxious to open it up and see how much difference it makes %/ :JEKYLHYDE

Roscoe 07-18-2002 03:24 PM

I spoke to Bill K, Tom R. Bill S., Tim L. We are meeting at 5:30 at the Hibernia Diner just off 80W at the Rockaway/Hibernia exit. Slosh down some chicken embryos, fat and some caffeine to kick start us.

We will caravan from there to the gas station just outside of the track and fill up our cans.

Base to Steve.....Base to Steve....Come in Steve.....

I'll be leaving from northeastern PA, so I'll be coming from a different direction, otherwise I'd meet up with you guys and caravan in together. I should be at the track by 6:30-7:00am. I'll be driving a dark green F-350 diesel crew cab and white enclosed V-nose trailer. How about we exchange cell #'s and check in around 6-6:30am? mine is: 973-809-3852

Roscoe,
I like that.

Cranky

BTW, has anybody seen Steve?

NJ2000R 07-18-2002 07:59 PM

I guess he's doing the smart thing: relaxing, not worrying, and not talking himself out of going again ;) :3DSMILE:

klayfish 07-19-2002 06:13 AM

I'm here. I just had to stop breathing in the paper bag long enough to type a message. :JEKYLHYDE

Seriously, I'm generally only online when I'm at work, and I'm in the field often, so sometimes I don't get to check the forum for quite a while.

I'm very excited and looking forward to it, but can honestly say that I'm not scared or worried. No second thoughts. You know, its' strange, I'm generally a very calm and unemotional person. After all, I'm the insurance police for a living, so I have to be cool and collected. But for some reason, this just took me for a little.

Anyway, I expect to be at the track between 6:30 and 7:00 am.

See everyone there.

Steve

RACER X #99 07-19-2002 02:38 PM

By this time tomorrow all you first timers will be begging PDA to let you run Mon and Tue at the Glen.

Take a break and register for the October Glen event. This is the Big Club Cranky event of the year. Best weather and most track time and of course the official bonfire and all night drinkathon.
Plus as always, many special guest speakers.

MUST GET TO THE GLEN,MUST GET TO THE GLEN

Cranky

If you and John are coming over to Pocono why not bring the Club Cranky tent to keep everyone in the shade.

Terry
