Nascar drivers dominate Daytona
Did anybody else notice that two Nascar drivers that only know how to turn left, dominated Daytona for 23 1/2 hrs till a broken part in the rear took a win away from them?
Oh Yea, Dale Jr. also set fast lap time in the rain, not too bad for a guy who never drove in the rain before. And only knows how to turn left.   Road racer superiority?......Please!  Cranky |
Yes I did.
Did you also notice that with the broken rt rear suspension and the left front tire off the ground, Tony was still pulling away from second place. The left rear tire coming off finally stopped him. |
Despite not being a NASCAR fan, I must say I was impressed. Stewart's driving at the end was impressive, but what really impressed me was the fact that he first drove that thing in anger in the middle of the night...in the pouring rain. Hell'uv a baptism.

Not a NASCAR fan myself either but, I am a Stewart fan.
Last summer he showed up at a dirt race were I was racing, not because he was paid to but because he hoped he could borrow a Late Model from someone and race that night. After begging unsuccessfully, he used the track's two-seater and gave fans thrill rides, 130mph, sideways and right on the wall. I've never met anybody that loves to race more than this guy. Scott |
Hey Cranky,
Who says Stewart only knows how to turn left. All dirt racers know how to turn right. Granted we turn right to go left but after learning to do that, turning right to go right is easy. ;) :D Scott |
Actually, there are quite a few good road racers amongst the good ole boys...Rudd, Martin, Elliott and Wallace all got good marks from Bondurant, and they do pretty well hustling a stock car around the road courses.....

Robert,
Yes I know about the good road racers in Nascar. I remember both Mark Martin and Bill Elliott driving and winning the 24 hrs in Jack Roush Mustangs a few years back. Anybody know where I can buy one of those used Mustangs? Cheap? Cranky:3DSMILE: |
I am utmost impressed by Tony Stewart!!! Awesome display of attitude and professionalism, and I am bummed he didn't win--he sure deserved it-running the car at speed with a broken suspension!!! I also must add that DE Jr.'s performance is not a surprise, and if anyone watched Jeff Gordon in "Trading Paint" on SpeedTV, you will have some respect for what the cream of the crop of NASCAR can do. I still think the WRC guys kick the most ass though :) !
