RACER X #99 02-12-2004 02:43 PM

JM,
Was kind of hoping some of the class guys from the Gashole gang would show up. Even the Li'l feller so he could display he driving expertise for all us wannabees. Probably heard we got a few guys who are SCCA racers and wouldn't want to embarrass himself so better to go to the Fling where a burnout is sure to impress.

To those guys that are going, well I can't wait to meet some of you guys. Don't expect us to be breaking any track records, wer'e just coming to tour the track and drink some good clean booze.

OK, if that's the way you guys want to play. New car was ordered a couple of hours ago.

P.S. This one isn't going to be all "kind" and "gentle" like the R&G car. ;)

Scott,

You won't be alone......we're bringing a lot of chipped paint, brake fluid ruined, melted rubber covered, snotty track cars.

Maybe old Bob Brezinski and Big Bob Evans can stop by too???

snakeeyes 02-12-2004 03:56 PM

Johnny Mac, funny you should mention my name...I just noticed this thread. Damn it, Big Bob, Phil Remington, Cal Metal, yours truly, et all are all going to Elkhart in July for the vintage races...suffice it to say there's no way in Hell I can be back there for the Northwoods stuff. If I were rich and famous like Jay or KeithW, I'd just take the Gulfstream IV and have the Boys bring the semi along behind me...:D

One of these days we'll get to the track together and have a contest to see who can say the dumbest thing after consuming at least a fifth of whiskey.

In case you guys are looking for lodging, there are three resorts in Elkhart that are probably stratospherically expensive: Victorian Village, Siebken's, and the Osthoff. All are on the lake, and Siebken's has one of the most famous bars in all of racing, but they're typically pricey. I think you can get more info on any of them from the Elkhart Lake Chamber of Commerce website. The CofC can also put you in touch with some bed-and-breakfast-type lodging, also in Elkhart but more affordable. That way Johnny Mac can satisfy his urge to sleep in a room full of antiques with pink puffy pillows and frilly lace curtains.:p

The Chamber of Commerce website:
http://www.elkhartlake.com/

The nearest town to Elkhart is Plymouth, only about 10 minutes from the track. The 52 Stafford and the AmericInn are two pretty reasonable hotels there:
http://www.sheboygan.org/lodging.htm

Sheboygan is about 25 minutes away and has a range of hotels, including a Comfort Inn or two.

Wish I could come up and play.:(

Cranky, my boss tells me I say dumb stuff even when I'm serious, so I'm pretty dangerous after a fifth of 101 Wild Turkey. One of these days...

Comittted Crankoids

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So far these people are going to Elkhart Lake. Would be great to have a few more.

Tim and Sue Achenbach ERA GT 40 or Cobra
Roger Davis Cobra track turd
John McMahon Contemporary FIA Cobra or Mustang
Joe Rodomista ERA FIA Cobra
Terry Shank FFR Cobra or Mustang
Ken Walder SVT Mustang

A few more may come less unfinished racers just to enjoy the after track festivities.

While Club Cranky may not provide record breaking performances on the track, we do have a reputation(at least in the East) for providing top caliber after hours entertainment.

Disclaimer......... The Club Cranky libations Mgr. will not be making this trip therefore the inability to procure and consume vast amounts of JW Blue, Tangueray Gin and any type beer may result in a less than desirable evening performance.:JEKYLHYDE

Club cranky, glad to see that you guys are coming. It will be good to meet all of you. I will try and talk to the guys at Northwoods and see if we can pre arrange some pit space together. Usually, when they open the gates, its a mad rush. There is plenty of room, it would be nice if we are all together. You guys will probably want to run in group1 with Nelson and I. The drinking will be at Siebkens resort. Cranky, like you guys, I'm just going for the fun and don't plan on being fast on the track. The track is fast but not very technical. 5 laps and you east coasters will have it figured out. Bring your brake parts. Scott
