Default Mufflers at Elkhart Lake???

I always thought Road America was in the boonies, so what's up with the muffler requirements?
Half the fun of running on the track is seeing how many days it takes after the event for your hearing to return.

Just how strict are these guys regarding db levels? Can I get by with running my standard Cobra sidepipes? If I can find them.

The whole Club Cranky gang is known at the Glen as those guys with the freekin loud cars and we are usually banished to the back of the Paddock.

Do you think if I short shift, below 7k they won't notice the noise too much?

Too make matters worse I just found out thay they got muffler rules at Beaverun.
These track owners are taking all the fun out of track time.

Pretty soon the only place left where you can run open pipes is at the Fling

Does anybody know who we can complain to?

Cranky

The limit is 104 0r 108 db. They bcheck for mufflers at tech. They have not set up the db meter while I was there. If they set up a db meter, we will get a heads up as to where and just push the clutch in on the way by. I run standard side pipes. Scott

I think mufflers is a relative term at R A because there were several guys that was running some very loud "MUFFLERS". Mine are basically open side pipes and no one said a word to me.

Clois, 600+ hp small blocks with open pipes are way louder than your 428. Cranky, trust me, they'll notice. Scott
