Lime Rock Park lap times
Yesterday I was at a PDA event at Lime Rock Park in CT and in between instructing sessions I checked some lap times on a few cars.
New Zo6 1m 05 sec Late model Mustang 1m 07 sec Mini Cooper S 1m 08 sec ( driven by a Club Cobra member) Radical 1m 01 sec Mitsubishi Evo 1m 0 sec To the best of my knowledge none of these drivers were pro and except for the Radical and the Mustang they all were street driven. LRP does not lend itself well to high HP cars and at a longer track the big HP cars would most likely be turning the better lap times. The only Cobra I saw was somebody who cruised thru the paddock in his replica coupe. |
LRP is a high speed track. Almost all the corners are high speed. First and second gear are not needed. If you can maintain your speed through the corners you will do well. Last year I turned 59.1 in a 140 HP car on street tires. That's an average of 93MPH.
High HP cars have a bigger advantage where they get to lay down rubber from one turn to the next. Bob |
