15" wheel suggestions
We need some assistance on the choices of racing wheels...
We are building up a road racing cobra and could use some suggesions on what wheels we should get for the car. We are on a budget and want to make sure that the wheels we get meet GT1, SPO and Vintage as these are the casses we are building the car to compete in -
Suggestions?
Also, we are planning on using the Goodyear Short Track specials 8" wide in the front and 10" wide in the rear.... and for Vintage we have to run the approved tires -
Thanks -
John

Bolt on or knockoffs?

Most likely we would sick with the bolt on's - more economical.
Knock offs are more original but much more expensive - especially when you plan on 2-3 sets of tires and wheels -
Thanks

Any of the Halibrand replicas and the American Racing Torque Thrust D would be the least costly to find today that would match wheels delivered on some of the original cars.

I have a nice 3 piece set of Compomotives on my car that I'm thinking about selling, and I know of another guy who has a set he may want to sell as well. Look at page 2 of my gallery. if you like them, great. If not, no sweat. Just thought I'd offer.

Pricing is everything - I have been looking at Ultra wheels - they are not authentic looking but they are cheap.

The Stock car type of racing wheels are readily available and dirt cheap.

I have a set of Wheelcrafter (SPF) wheels with GT Qualifier tires (1200 miles) I want to sell. Does not include hub or spinners $390. I bought the wheels/tires used, but I'm not happy with them. They need polished and I'm not willing to do the work. The privous owener and I have a big difference of opinion on "excellent" condition.

I'll add another vote for the American Racing Torque Thrust D's. They are original wheels and I have them on my Cobra and I think they look great! However, they are a cast wheel and if you're going to throw the car around pretty hard you might want to look at some forged wheels, but then things start to get expensive. They used the Torque Thrust D's for racing in the 60's soooo....

Like RDorman said. Nascar type rims. Can be had at Diamond racing wheels for about $60 - $70 per rim. Stay away from street rims. They "look neat", but usually are not built to handle the rigors of racing. If you really want to step up, go for Real, Bogart, BBS, Jongblood etc. Plenty high dollar rims to choose from.
