OIl system Question?

I am in the process of upgrading my oil system with a 3qt Accusump and an oil thermostat I have a engine block adapter, a remote oil filter (billet 4 port), a -12 oil cooler and now the Accusump and oil thermostat. My question is why do most recommend that the oil flow should go from the engine block adapter to the remote filter first before it goes to the thermostat and cooler. I would think the you would want the filter to be the last component that the oil goes through before going back to the engine. If I am wrong please point me in the right direction. Thanks again Mac

Keep everything clean

Mac VABCH Mac you want to keep everything clean. If the motor starts to have a failure, you don't want metal getting into the accusump and oil cooler. It would be a pain to flush out these parts. The same applies with any thing like a small piece of RTV from the intake sealing, It can get through the screen of the pickup, the pump gears will crush it, and next you want something to caught it before getting into the motor. In addition, you want the oil as hot as possible when it passes through the filter to minimize the pressure drop (or any pressure-induced bypass) through it.
