Tony George fired...
Maybe there is a god...
|
I saw him interviewed during the Indy 500 and he barely had a pulse. It seemed like he was heavily sedated. IRL still has too many ovals for my taste.
George replaced as head of Indy speedway http://sports.yahoo.com/irl/news?slu...v=ap&type=lgns |
That's even bettter news....
That guy (with help from Penske and Andretti and Honda and Toyota) cost me a small fortune and distroyed open wheel racing...and I am a bitter vindictive person who has waited years for a bit of revenge...::LOL:

" Tony George will no longer have day-to-day responsibility for running his family businesses, including the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Current chief financial officer Jeffrey Belskus is the new CEO of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corp., and current chief legal counsel W. Curtis Brighton is the new president and CEO of Hulman & Co. The changes, made public Tuesday, take effect July 1. Tony probably saved open wheel racing from what it would have become had the owners of CART taken over, the American equivilent of F1 with drivers aimlessly for two hours following the first person to make turn 1 on lap 1. He has tried to keep it from becoming a spec series but this year has been bad. In any event, he singlehandedly brought F1, NASCAR, and MOTO GP to Indy turning the track into a multifaceted venue with superb facilities. His firing had much more to do with the family finances than anything else. I agree he has the personality of a mud fence. And if you want to talk vindictive, talk to Tony's sisters. Let's hope they don't ruin the track out of their concern for their endowment. |
There was a news article that the retired Executive, Wheeler ( spelling ? ) of Lowe's Speedway in Charlotte had visited Indy, speculation he might be brought in for Marketing the events at Indy......would appear to be a good move for the future of the track.
