Nose insert

Been busy. Friend has a factory five. Convinced I need a a nose insert. Its .032 aluminium. It will butt up against the radiator with bulb seal. Should be a good look.

I also put aluminumin the nose area, then put in an aluminum shelf over the oil cooler.
Makes me want to pull the engine someday and do the entire engine compartment.

How did you guys form the panel to conform to the oval fish mouth shape ?
Looks great.

Looks good!

Mine was made by a friend of mine, we decided to put a little lip on the forward end of it where it mates up to the body. I too have a rubber seal on it where it meets the radiator.

To get it to fit. I started out with a cardboard template. Using tin snips I cut to shape. .032 is fairly flexible to roll into a circle to get in and out through the nose. I plan on pop riveting it in place.

I got the back end trimmed. Added some bulb seal around the back end. Good tight fit.
More to come.

A little bit more grill work. To fill the lower oil cooler inlet. Got this idea from the factory five forum.

Hi rdc767, can you tell us what you used for the rubber gasket around the aluminum against the radiator?
Thanks,

I found it.

my friend built a factory five and had a bunch of extra. Works great. Has metal strip built in the the rubber that grabs the aluminum. I bet you can find it cheaper.

I guess it comes with the cobra and daytona kits. If you know a builder he has some extra.
