keeping hot air out of the footbox

I get a lot of hot air from the engine through where the pedal box sits on the foot box...tryed duck tapt and insulation tape both came loose from the heat!
How about silcone...would it hold up under the heat??? any other suggestions?

The black silicon caulking will work good, there is also some good seam sealers in a caulking gun tube I just used from NAPA. That worked well as it really builds up and seals a huge gap.

I ran a piece (18x18") of sound/heat material across the the bottom of the pedal box from the bottom. First I cut slits for the pedals. It helped a lot.
