steering shaft
Hi folks,
Was wondering if there was a "standard part" that you all had ordered to connect the steering rack to the column? I have the 32" long flaming river column and a power steering rack, and the march performance pully setup, along with a bbf. There are several clearance issues regarding the march "wide body" power steering pump...not sure if I will be able to keep it, or goto a manual rack? It looks extremely tight to get from the column to the steering rack - maybe a double u-joint shaft? just curious as to what others have done. i'm getting down to the last few items - very exciting! hoping to take it up and down my street in a few weeks. thanks as always |
Hi there, I wanted to see if you ever got an answer to your question for the steering shaft?
Do you have any pictures of what you did? I am doing the same thing you did and having some problems. Please let me know? Thanks, |
Do some reading over here and pay particular attention to page 25.
http://www.borgeson.com/Images/09Catalog.pdf These guys are industry leaders and know their stuff. DON'T do what some guys have done like putting a shaft into a u-joint that can just pull right out, yes while you're driving! Splines use a groove, double D use a screw indent to lock the shaft into the u-joint. You can kick out around obstacles if you use another u-joint but it must be supported properly. If I can help with design or look over any pics of what you're doing I'd be happy to help. |
