Jell Coat Crack

Hi Everyone,
I uncovered the body on my cobra and found a crack in the jell coat finish.
It is on top of the area behind the head light about 6 inches back and the crack is about 9 inches long. Not a high stress area but wanted to know how something like this would be fixed?
Thanks for your help.
Mike

Hi,
Is this a newer car or well seasoned? Is the car painted or raw gel-coat? Was area struck or stressed that might have caused this or has a prior repair been done in the area? Lots of ? to direct stages of repair. In short you fix the cause of the problem and then fix the finish by spotting a few coats of gel coat, sand - paint or polish.

Hi there, I got the body abour 4 years ago and it is not stressed.
It is at the top area where the head light goes in about 6 inches back.
The crack is only in the finish and not the fiberglass.
Can it just crack like that?

Did you have a plastic tarp over the body while it was stored outdoors?

If not, I need to know exactly how you had the car stored and covered.

The car was covered with a soft lined car cover then that was covered with a tarp.
Not sure how it happened but I will have to deal with it.
Thank you all.

The tarp is the culprit I'll betas it traps moisture.........The worst thing someone can do is put any vehicle under a plastic tarp, then subject it to heat and cold cycles.
