Ideal Lower Linkage Length
 

I'm trying to align my rear housing, 4-link 9". I've installed the (Adjustable) link arms - i'll need to adjust them to correct the angle, but what is the ideal length for the lower link arms. I've left them screwed in quite a bit but it looks like the housing would be too far forward. I'm thinking that the housing should be centered (front and back) to the frame that loops over the rear end housing.
Does anyone know the length of the lower and upper links that are Non-Ajdustable. Maybe I should start from there as a reference.
From talking to Joe the housing should be about 9" below the frame when loaded.

Just happen to have a pair of non adjustable lower links on the shelf. Center to center is 13" .

Working on setting up 4 link. I have the adjustable arms, GOOD THING rearend is way off!!!!! Side to side and front to back. I have a friend who took a class on setting up 4 links. Wow a bunch to do. Got the side to to side last night, next going to set front to back. Using the front end to square off of.

Thanks for the info - looks great - I'm just setting the engine in so this is great timing.
I've installed my rear assy - with all the links set per "Gman"s measurements - rear was binding - I had to adjust the upper left link (Dr side) - had to be adjusted at least 1/2 inch longer - I'm assuming the mount on the housing was off, now it seems not to bind - still favoring the drivers side by about 1/8" but that should be corrected with the Panhard bar.

Ok update time, I spent all of Thursday at a very nice shop. Advanced Chassis Shop. I could not get my 4 link square. I would always be at least .250 out. If I did have it square the rearend would bind up. So I took the chassis to Advanced they said 1 to 2 hours. I got there at 9:45 am and left at 5:45pm. The brackets on the rearend were off location .250 and at least .125 from being inline across. We changed the upper and lower arms to units with right and left threads. Added a longer panhard bar also with right and left threads. I'm taking pics and sending them to Joe. I was told that if I hadn't made the changes the car would handle like crap and wear tires out fast. We even reset the bars to stock length that made the problem worse, .625 out of square and .125 off side to sidewith this set up. We also set the front end before doing the rear. Now everything is square and even and looks much better.
Cost a chunk of change but I'm very happy with the set up. Plus got to hang out and learn a ton about setting up 4 links. These guys have been doing this for 23 years, mostly drag cars. they did say kit car builders are becoming more and more of their business. So if you're having problems might give these guys a call good people. I wouldn't think twice about going to them again.
