Wilwood vs Explorer rear brakes

I have Wilwood brakes on the front 12.19 rotors and Explorer disc on the back
Would there be a big difference switching to Wilwood's on the back ...
They would also have 12.19"rotor

A custom designed brake system for a limited edition vehicle is a fairly complicated affair. Lots of things to consider - balance of the car, MC bores and type, calipers, rotors, etc. In the end, though, it's all about balance. Every part of the system is designed to give the proper balance. Cobra Replicas tend to have a much better balance than most cars - much closer to 50/50. That usually means you'll need more rear brake than other cars - like Mustangs.

Ideally, you want the front brakes to lock up just a tad before the rears. That's a good indication of the "perfect" balance. How is your balance now? If that's how your brakes are performing now, leave it alone.

The more pistons you have, the better the brakes will perform - to a point, of course. If you have 6 piston front calipers with a 13" rotor, you would probably need to upgrade the rears to match. But if your fronts are a 4 piston with an 11" rotor, you're probably fine where you are.

Decide where your braking problems are, and then figure out why you have that problem. Then you can figure out what parts will fix that problem.

What Wilwood setup are you using? Do you have any pics you could post?

Sorry no pics. I bought my Wilwoods from Hot Rods USA out of Vancouver Washington. (360)-882-0444. Hope this helps.

Can't find their website. I'm always looking for a good e-brake kit for Wilwood calipers. Best ones I've seen and what I intend to use on my 289 is Kirkhams setup. I just hope I can still get them when I get to that point.
