Cobra walk around video

Cobra is 98% done just a few things left before NYS inspection and warm weather. Here is a video running in the drive way.

Nice job with the build. It will soon be warm enough to take it out for a spin. Good luck with the inspection. Where are you located?

MCDSiena 03-09-2014 06:23 PM

Thank you. I live in Clifton Park, NY just a little north of Albany. I've never had good luck with the DMV for anything over the years, I am hoping any inspection issues don't cause me to miss any warm weather.

Sounds very healthy! Congrats and good luck with DMV

The motor sounds great, what is the estimate on horsepower? I just took another look at the video, and coming fresh off of a project in which I installed a heater/defroster in my car, I did not see any defroster vents on your dashboard. Did I miss them? NY will require defrosters to pass inspection. They normally do not check them during the regular safety inspection, but because it is a new build I believe that they are going to see them during the initial inspection.

Check with others to verify. There are quite a few cobra owners in your area and they will know more specifics about what the inspectors in your area are looking for. Good luck.

MCDSiena 03-10-2014 08:05 PM

Correct I have no heater/defroster. I have heard that the inspectors don't care as long as you get past the paperwork/pictures part, but as a back up I will use a marine 12v electric defroster temporarily wired in.

As far as horsepower I'm hoping for around 500 not sure if I am there or not. This is my first FE build. Much more familiar with Ford small blocks.

I have a 67 428 pi motor. Stock pistons, elderbrock rpm heads, elderbrock performer rpm intake. 830cfm quick fuel carb, 605/605 comp cam, and it did 407hp on the dyno with junk headers. with no port work.

Further info

Who manufactured the cam, what is the overlap, and is it 107, 108, 110 ???
