new build
Good Day, my son is joining me to build an A/C roadster. We have been reading all the various posts and we have come up with a plan using all the info we can find. We are not worthy to express any of our thoughts because the people on this forum overwhelm us with your knowledge. your thoughts please on the following: X302 Ford racing (306 ci/340hp) with all parts to the drive shaft, including a t-5 trans, 355 rear end, 17" wheels /tires, does this seem ok, other options steel exhaust and paint them black ( the product I believe is called Por 15) other ?'s oil cooler, trans cooler, are they needed?
Should we get the exhaust, headers, fan, roll bar etc from a/c or search for other vendors to save cost. we know there will be more questions as we get into this project and thank you any of your comments and suggestions. |
You will not need a tranny cooler for a t-5. =)

I went with steel headers and side pipes and I got mine ceramic coated inside and out. Do not use por 15 on them, if you want them black get them ceramic coated. Make sure you coat the inside and outside of them. if you don't want black get them in stainless steel.

update we live just north of Cincinnati and we have a roller frame and the x302 ford racing motor del and would like to know if someone could suggest if there is a builder in the area that would like to help us with the build and we understand we would be paying for the help. our goal is to be hands on as much as possible but we want to make sure everything is done right. Lykins motor sports is just a few hours south of you. He goes by blykins on this sight. Look at some of his build threads on this sight.
I would suggest stroking the 5.0 block to 347 cid. If you are buying a new rotating assembly anyway, the cost is the same.4 |
