Hanging the doors
I started hanging the doors so i can bolt the cowl bar and brackets in. What a pain in the butt. Whatever i do i cant get them right. Im gonna have to modify the hinge plates to get more adjustment out of them. Ive read just about every post in the forums. Ill take any advise i can get. Thanks Richie

There are many posts about this part of the build in the A&C forum It is frustrating Take a deep breath First thing make sure the legs of the cowl bar are on smooth fiberglass That area is usually very wavy and not flat Grind it flat Start with the drivers door then proceed to the passenger side You can flip the hinges during the trial and error of getting the figment correct Someone even said that he cut the cowl bar in half then welded it after the doors were in place. I did not do that but I can tell you the amount of times I had the doors on and off were more than I want to even think about it now, 14 years later. I was about to start swinging a hammer. Make sure the legs of the cowl bar are on a smooth surface and not bowed in. You might have to grind some of the fiberglass on the inside walls of the body as well. There can not be any restrictions on the cowl bar to be able to move a bit side to side to allow the doors to fit properly. Good luck Jim |
