58mm Weber 58DC03 & 58DC04 Carbs

I am wondering on some information regarding my 58mm Weber’s and what they are worth. I heard that some of these sets go for a lot of money to Ferrari and Cobra restorers and are very rare now. Two sold in the UK quite a few years ago for $20,000 CAD and another set of 4 sold for $45,000.00 USD.

These three carbs are off my race car. All three are in good shape and would likely just need a cleaning. The tag numbers read 58DC04 on two of them and 58DC03 on the last one. Horns are on them inside the filter chamber as well. Carbs are #147 (58DC03), #410, and #468.

Any help is appreciated. I have them on ebay at the moment to see if any interest and you can view more pictures of them there.

Thanks

Can you post a link to your ad on ebay please, since I cannot find it?

58 DCO4 s are as rare as hen's teeth.

Thanks for the link.

Good luck with your auction, lochess.

Or should that be loch ness?

Last name is Hess.

Thanks for posting the link as I was not sure of the rules on posting links to ebay. I doubt the auction will get any bidders, but appreciate the luck. Who knows, maybe there will be a restorer looking for them.

Yes, you never know who might be looking for 58s.

I wish you well with your auction Ken.

I saw a bunch of 58 bodies a guy here in england cast and machined, very impressive carbs.

Had a guy ask a question on auction today that i cannot answer. He asked what the difference is between the 58DC03 and 58DC04 carbs are.

I assume that the 04's are exact same just the second series of carbs, but not positive.

You guys know the answer to this?

Not sure on the DCOs but on DCOEs, IDF, IDAs etc, the suffix can point to number of, and placement of transfer holes.

Some carbs have only two holes, some carbs have 3,4 or 5 holes transition holes.

I don't know of any other differences, taking other replaceable variables into account.

I would pull one of each of the carbs off, and observe the transition hole number and placement in relation to the butterfly at say 1/4 turn open.

Thanks appreciate the information. I did take a look at them and the holes seem to be exactly the same from one to the other.

I have 4 58’s on a 427 intake manifold. Do you know anyone looking for this setup?

I have one downdraft carb, but am not interested in selling. Would be interested in trading information.

This thread is about 58 DCO carbs (SIDEDRAUGHTS), not IDA carbs.

Please stay on topic.
