To tilt or not to tilt
Gents now in the process of deciding whether to go with a tilt column or a non tilt column for my A&C cobra. I would like to go with a 15in steering wheel as well. Is a tilt really needed? I would like to keep it looking like the original as possible. But I’m also looking for comfort in the cockpit too. Any input would be appreciated. Also any picture that you have of your columns would help as well. Thanks

I have a Ididit tilt column in my car. It is a very well made product and functions great. It allows you another custom driver adjustment. It also provides more room when entering and exiting the car. You really don't need it but it is a nice addition to any Cobra.

I have an A&c and personally think you need it . The angle the column comes up is a little high.l will look for a pic.

Tilt
Personal preference.....I made my steering column that didn’t tilt. Looked original with a VW turn signal and never had a issue with it.

I've had 2 Ididt tilt columns. Both were defective and wouldn't hold the selected position.

I have the didit and it seems fine. if you get good placement on a fixed wheel that should be fine but tricky to do I'd think. No extra room in the form fitting Cobra cockpit. Fractions of inches matter.

Unless you are going original all the way, put a tilt in. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Yes I have a tilt in my A&C.
If you are going to use modern gauges in the dash (make that non-original), how could a tilt matter. You have to look hard to tell the difference, but the gauges and non-original wheel and shifter handle can be seen 30 feet away.

I have a tilt column in my Classic Roadster Cobra. The main advantage is that the tonneau cover didn't need a special pocket for the steering wheel. I could just tilt the steering wheel down and the tonneau cover goes over the top of it.

I put a Flaming River tilt column in my A&C.
If you ever find yourself under the drivers side of the dash, having that tilt feature will be a godsend. (Although crawling under the dash is a tight fit anyways)

Well I guess I’m going to go with either a Flaming River or a Ididit tilt column. I’ll keep it black though. I was told that a 32in tilt column would work good in the A&C Cobras with the GM wiring harness. Also I'm going to get the American Auto Wire 22 wiring kit. I heard that there pretty nice wiring kit. Again thanks for all of your input. :D

I liked the tilt because I could position it for me and when one of my buddies drove the car they could change it to suit their driving style.
And could be a sell point when that time comes.
I drove with it in a more vertical position than most.
