Windshield Wiper Hole Placement
1 Attachment(s)
Not sure if anyone is still active on here for A&C but I’ll ask in hopes. I have to have wipers in my state so I need to install them. I’m planning on drilling the wiper holes before I mount the body on the chassis despite the order in the manual. Pretty much because I have better access while standing in the engine Bay Area vs leaning in from the sides. The manual lays out some measurements. The 6.5 and the 12.5” measurements seem straightforward. However, I’m not sure what they want with the 1/2”. Is the measurement forward from the windshield seal. I have read elsewhere that’s it based on the rubber grommet of the mount, not the windshield. I’m nervous about this part. Really want to get the hole location correct…..and the angle. Thanks. If someone has a picture reference of the wipers, I would appreciate that too.

Forward of the rubber seal to body contact. Fit the windshield to final position (45degrees) at center of glass. Then place the wiper bezels where you think they should be. As long as the bezels don't interfere with the rubber seal, you will be ok. It will likely be more than 1/2" from the rubber to the center of the drill hole though. They probably meant 1/2" to the rear of the bezel. Use the bezel angle to match your drill angle when you're ready.

Great. Thank you. I read that some other kits measure from bezel. And not the windshield seal. I was getting all kinds of confused.

I agree with what was suggested, one thing I had to do because the cowl area of fiberglass is so thick, I had to counter bore the backside of the hole so that I could get the nut on the threaded rod of the wiper base.

Thanks. I don’t have any issues with the mounts. The wiper kit they used changed. However, so did the motor, and it mounts differently. So that’s been kind of a pain.
