seat belts
I have seen height issues for the sholder straps talked about in the past but I was wondering where you all actually bolted the seat belts to the frame.
I am a ways away from this stage right now but have looked at the situation a little and do not see any good way to bolt in a 5 point without the addition of some new braces. Just thought I would see how others worked this out. Thanks, Aaron |
I have a Midstates and mybelts bolt to the frame on one side an to a steel plate in the tunnel in the center.

Sorry - didn't notice the "A & C" at the top of the heading 'til now.
That was my fault - but one thing you will learn here is the more information you can provide (such as year your kit was made) the better chance you will get help here. Just an observation.:) |
Flip, I think his response relates to his number of posts and time on the site.
Although this is the A&C board, there are several members who could provide a wide select of solutions to you question. Many of them do not own an A&C. I have a solution for a four point by fabicating a wrap harness out of leather that allows the shoulder harness to connect to the roll bars behind the driver and passenger. And, I do not have a A&C. Hope this helps. |

This is how I installed my 5 point system, not sure if it is the best but here goes. On the lap and the submarine belts, I went thru the floor of the body. Under the floor I used 3" dia flat washers. The shoulder straps go thru the cockpit back wall to the down tube bracket for the roll bar and mount in the locking bolt for the tube. That braket is mounted to the frame. Some may say that the floor mount is not safe, but I figure the thickness of that area, almost 3/8" in some areas with the large flat washers, it should be strong enough. I hope! Another way would be to use a steel plate under the body maybe. Not sure if this helps but that is what I did. Ofcourse there are no instructions in the manual abaout sealt belt installation practices are there. Roscoe, what did you do? I should have talked to you first, just kidding. I went through the floor and used a small plate for the shoulder belts. The lap belts and sub belt just have large washers on them.
