Hey Guys,

soliciting advice/comments about wiring my Antique and Collectible. I am considering locating the harness/fuse panel in the passenger side foot-box. Where did you guys run and attach the battery to harness cable? Has anyone used American Autowire products?

Hey Jerry,
I used a EZwiring 12 circuit harness. I placed the fuse box on the drivers side near the steering column on the inside of the firewall. I wired the battery (+) to a kill switch on the dash and the then wired the harness to the opposite side of the switch. I also ran a stainless ground wire from the frame to the firewall and attached it to a bolt that runs through the wall. I attached a heavy gauge wire to the bolt and then attached the wire to 2 connector blocks which I used for all of my (-) connections. I have never used American Autowire products, but I hear Ron Francis makes a great harness kit that is easy to install. I thought the EZwiring kit was good as well.

I used an 18 circuit Painless Wiring setup. Breaker box is near the steering wheel under the dash. My battery is in the trunk and I have a 'T' handle running through the rear wall to kill all power. Similar to this one

I also have a main disconnect on the dash with the big red key.

I would suggest you install your fuse panel in an area that is as dust free as possible, mine is under the dash. I bought a Dr. K's system but, being an electrician, altered and added to it. His kit comes very easy to install and will perform well, all wiring is of adequate size and is well designed. I placed my battery in the trunk and installed a battery cut off switch behind the passenger seat. I also have a micro switch controlling a relay to energize the starting circuit. If you run into problems repost, we'll help you.
