A&C Excessive Camber
Did anyone find excessive camber in their front end during the build? I noticed the camber during the "rolling chassis" phase of the build and thought it might be corrected when the motor and trans went in and the chassis settled a bit. But that really didn't happen. I measured and found that I would have to shim each upper arm approx. 1 inch (rough measurement) to get to "0" camber. Is that normal for the A&C car? I may have to spring for new adjustable arms, hope not!!!

You are correct. I have a 1/2" spacer in and on top of that I have like 5 shims in the rear and two in the front. Adjustable arms are on my short list. Check out http://www.polepositionrp.com/select.htm

Yup. I had to use slightly longer grade 8's and had to do what Roscoe did with a shim. That changed when I ordered Pole Position uppers and had more control over the Camber/Caster. I am running .75 negative camber in front with Racing tires for track events and .50 for the street. If you are going to do any performance driving with the car I would change out your rear 250lb stock coils for for 350lb units. The car handles far better with the heavier springs and the ride is just as good.

Mike,
Which Pole Position uppers did you get. It looks like the triangle shaped ones may be too tight around the springs. Got any pics? Roscoe |
Thanks guys, looks like I'll be fabricating some type of spacer until I get the adjustable uppers.

Jerry,
I just took some bar stock, 1/2" thick by about 1 1/2", cut it and notched out two "U's" so I could just drop it in. Roscoe |
Here is a large pic of the passenger side. You can see the spacer I made and the shims the alignment guy put in. This is setup with a 1.1 - 1.0 Camber, 2.2 - 2.1 Caster and a .10" toe.

Hi Roscoe,
Sorry for the late reply. The triangles won't fit. I used the ones that are bent like the stock arms. They really are a great product and are easy to work with. I didn't think the price was too bad either. I don't have any pics at the moment, but I'll try to get some for you. :D --Mike |
Thanks Mike....I thought the triangles would be a bit tight.
