Cowl Frame

I am very sad tonight. I cracked my gel coat trying to get the cowl in place. I had it too close to the fire wall when i straighten it up. The crack is located right where my windshield will be located. The spider crack will extend either way by a couple of inches. The body is black and i still need to do the body and paint but im pissed at myself for allowing it to happen. I tried putting it in the actual location that i think it should go but its such a tight fit that i am afraid of cracking it again.

Sorry to hear about your problem. I too had a problem trying to position the hoop in place. After alot of angling and positioning, it finally went where it was supposed to go. (No damage to the gel coat, thank GOD!!) Hope the rest goes smoothly.

Mine is star cracked on the passenger side right next to the window mount. I think it happened in transport though. We used a ratchet strap across the body right there at Joes suggestion. If its a painter its really no big deal. Wish it did not happen but stuff does.

The crack is probably just in the gel so with some mild sanding and a little filler and patients it will be as good as new.
