Brake switch and speedo cable question
 
Hey guys; Which brake switch did you use for the AC footbox. If you can give me the part number or make and model, that would be great. Also which speedo cable should i get for the gage that AC gave me (stewart warner) combined with my 68 mustang 4 spd toploader. I went to a NAPA dealer and asked for a cable but the one they has was only a steel cable. No plastic covering or the end piece that fits in the tranny.

When you say "brake switch" I assume you mean for activating your brake lights. If so, I used a pressure switch, connected in-line with my brake line. Step on the brake, and the pressure closes a switch. Got mine from Speedway.

I used an electronic speedometer, easier to calibrate. Once you install the sending unit, you can change gear set-ups, tire sizes etc and just re-program it. No changing gears in the tranny on the sending unit.

Thanks. The pressure switch sounds like a great idea. Can you provide me with a link to speedway and the part so that i get the correct one. Also the Electronic speedo. I am assuming that it is the same size as the hole that i have already cut out for the Stewart Warner one (3")

PS. What happens to the Hole in the tranny for the cable on a 4 spd toploader. Do i need to plug it up some how with a electronic speedo?

An electric speedo uses a sending unit that will install in the cable hole of the transmission. The sending unit is connected to the speedo through wires, and not the mechanical cable you are used to using. Hope this helps. Jim

I don't think my part numbers will be helpful. We have different set-ups. Browse the brake parts at Speedway. There are different connections in and out of the pressure switch. You need to match the connections to your brake line size.

Your sending unit will be different than mine, I have a C-4. As Jim mentioned, the new sending unit will attach in the Tranny where the mechanical sender is now.

Also there are different faces for Stewart Warner Gauges, you need to check to see which style you have.

The latter has more choices for gauges. My advice, call both. Speak to a Tech and tell them what you are doing. I found them both to be helpful.
