Stewart Warner gages fogging
Hey guys. Took my baby to work this morning (5 am). Cool morning. Now my Stewart Warner gages were all foggy on the inside of the glass by the time i arrived after a 15 minute drive. Anyone else have this problem. Eventually this must no be good for the gages themselfs.
Any suggestions Automan |
Guage fog
Automan,
Mine did the same thing but cleared out after a while. The lights are located at the top of the guage and are not a tight seal so moisture is going to get in almost every time the car cools off. I had the same problem with the fuel guage on my Harley, the service fix was to drill a series of small holes in the top of the guage housing. It worked for the bike, but I'm not taking this dash apart unless I have to. Sam |
The light warms the inside of the gauge causing condensation. I think like Sam said improving the ventilation would help but I'm not taking my guages out to drill holes in them either. I only see it happen when I drive at night which is rare so I'm not going to worry about it. FYI- my dash is a 1" thick piece of cherry wood and the stewart warner guages may not get the ventilation they would on a thinner dash design. Automan I assume you had your dash lights on.
