Roll Bar question
Hi - I'm taking ownership of an already built and titled A&C 67 Roadster on Saturday (excitement is at breaking point) and have what hopefully isn't too much of a noobie question. It doesn't have the roll bar fitted (no holes drilled either) so does anyone know what kind of work is involved to do it now? I've seen pictures of the car body off and didn't see any obvious mounting points. Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Hi Jon, do you have the roll bar? That should give you some idea of how it fits. We've been slipping the end into a larger tube and putting a bolt through both to hold them on. I have some pics if you need them.

Not that easy if body is now on. Wonder why previous owner din't fit them in?

We've put them on finished cars with no problems. If you're careful with the layout and your measurements it will be fine. I have a layout for the hoop holes I can send you. The rear brace is done to match the hoop.

When you order the roll bar from A & C they should include the bracket for the two down tubes and the bracket from the rear downtube. I had to slightly modify my brackets. The brakets bolt to the frame, you have to locate them and then drill thru the chassis tubes. Doing it with the body on is the only way to do it. When you order ask Sonny for a manual. The manual should give you the layout, but be careful with the position of the front two downtubes. Look at the rear wall in the interior. You must make sure you drill so you do not run into it. The rest of the parts like, visors, winwings and bumper extensions and quick jacks or bumpets you can get from Finishline. Be careful drilling into the body, put tape down and then use a hole saw bits, go slow, it is easy. Good Luck. Jim |
Throwing out a chance that you’re still here.
I have my body on now. I’ll need to mount the roll bar. The manual has that item as doing dead last. Going thru the driver side rear wheel. I’m wondering how I can get the rear roll bar mount on with the body on? It doesn’t seem like I’d have space to get it mounted. Am I missing something? |

Still here, sold my car after 24 years on the road, 20,000 miles. Now , the roll bar. I actually had both driver and passenger roll bars, twice the pia. I did it with the body on. I had to modify the brackets on the on the front of the frame in order for them to go on, sorry, but I can’t remember what it did, but the body was on. Before drilling the two holes make sure that where you drill will allow clearance for the two tubes to clear the interior back wall. You have to tinker with the front and back brackets to fit but the do fit with the body on. The manual really sucks, but basically it gives u enough info to make it work. The 10” height is what I set it to originally. After I had it all mounted, I hated the way it looked. I never liked the way Factory 5 bars looked, way too high. The 10” height is way too low. The correct height should be a line from the top of front fender, over the top of your head, to the top of the bar. I had a friend make me spacers to slip into the three tubes, I think they added 3” in height of the bar, it looked much better. If you look at pics of other A & C’s you will see what I mean.
