measuring for driveshaft
does the body need to be on toget the correct measurment for the drive shaft...with the body off the angles between the trans and the diff are incorrect ?

Yep
Don't get a drive shaft untill the body is mounted. I did and got lucky. I had the coil overs way up. I didn't know this untill I put the body on (huge gap between the tires and body.) I lowered the coils down to the bottom bracket. Then I had to make some small adjustments to the threaded portion. I think it pulled the drive shaft out or in I can't remember 1/2 to 3/4". I think the shaft was $175 so not alot of money to if you have to do it again. But I would wait. :o Ron |
I had my driveshaft made by Denny's prior to mounting the body. I had no problems with it. The only problem I had was the e-brake disc. I removed it after the build cause the body was hitting it. I second the endorsement for Denny's Drive shafts! Follow the directions at the website. Call if you need help, you most likely will talk with Denny.

Where did you get your E-brake disc set-up from? |
Total Performance up in CT. I still have mine if you are interested. It was hitting the body on and off when I would hit a bump.

We like to do the drive shaft real close to last, Denny's can make them in no time so wait till your almost done and everything is mounted on and in the car. I like to have all the weight in a car and lifted by the wheels to make the measurements. Real important things like this measurement need to be done just as the car would be going down the road. Find a way to lift it buy the wheels, I use old alignment tables but what ever you use do it safely.
