Anyone hear of this?
Had a friend over last night. He is a big vette fan. Said he met a GM guy at BJ auction that told him Chevy was bringing out a new motor for kit cars that met Ca emissions because sb100 was going to be repealed. Said I had never heard about it as I haven't seen anything posted here about it.
He also said that FF's new car and there hot rod will be available with chevy motor mounts to fit this engine because of the above fact. He was also told that AZ would be following the new ca smogs regs and the same thing would apply here. No more if it looks like an old car it is titled that way. I said it sounded like gm/salesman bulls**t but it's hard to convince a diehard vette guy. What say ye???? |
I read an article a week or so ago about a new motor from GM that would almost fill that bill. Crate motor with about 500 HP specifically for kit cars and hot rods. Don't recall anything about a repeal of SB100. I'll see if I can find the article and tell you where it is.

They have a green set up which is supposed to pass emissions for California. There is also another set up that you are supposed to be able to get to add to engines that will make them pass the emissions but I haven't seen much about that. Also I haven't seen where the GM motor and stuff has actually been used and passed.

Dave, your friend is referring to the GM motor announced at SEMA. It is the LS3 motor: http://tinyurl.com/yat89am
