Visiting Czech Republic for 6 weeks

I will be in Plzen for 6 weeks and will try to hook up with some Cobra, GT40, etc people. There are some very nice vehicles there especially some of the Brit replicas. If anyone would like to contact me in CZ you can call up to 1800 daily at : 420-3774-61726. Any additional information on Specialty cars in the area would be appreciated (owners, companies, spcl events, et al). See you Arizona Cobra guys in 6 weeks. Bill Bryan

I just got back from almost three weeks in Eastern Europe. I've heard that the people in the Czech Republic drink more beer, per capita, than any country in the world. I had one waitress get a little upset with me when I asked her if she didn't have something other than Budwiser on tap, and she replied that "this is the Czech Republic and our beer is good". Granted, the Bud over there is much more flavorful than the stuff in the US, but I was wanting some of the many other better brands from the area. I suffered through. If you get up to Poland, they have a couple wonderful traditions: Its bad manners to not finish a bottle of vodka on the table, and, its bad manners to have an empty bottle on the table...Try the Bison Grass vodka. Tasty!

Karl, Do they have a bison in the bottle or just the grass?

mikiec 06-12-2010 12:57 PM

Some people will do anything to avoid the process server. :):)

Danr, the Bison Grass vodka actually has a few sprigs of grass in it that came from a field where the buffalo roamed....Unique.

Karl...are you sure you meant "grazed" and not ...

Actually the Czech beer is the best especially when it's 10-12% alcohol!! Gambrinus is the most popular in Czech...it's not exported for a reason. Pilsner Urquell is good and is exported to the U.S. $6 a sixer. Not that I drink beer to excess of course.

I more look forward to eating "pig knee" at the restaurant. I'll explain later. LOL.

See 'ya in 6
Bill

The Czech Budweiser (Budvar) was produced before Colonel Adolphus Busch and Eberhard Anheuser were even born. Budweiser Budvar Brewery (Budějovický Budvar) is a brewery in the city of České Budějovice (Budweis in German), Czech Republic, that is best known for brewing a beer known as Budweiser Budvar in the European Union, Czechvar in the United States and Canada. So that's more info than you ever wanted to know. But I guarantee you that the beer you drink in Czech is about as good as it gets. Any beer they have on tap is excellent.

Here are a few of the top brands: Staroprammen, Pilsner Urquell, Budvar, Radegast.

Anyway, I lived in Prague for 4 years and Hungary before that, so I thought I'd share a bit.....:D
