Rock Guard Brackets

Does anyone make a better bracket system than what is supplied with the rock guards from Finish Line for the headlights ? I saw a great bracket system on someones Cobra a couples of weeks ago, looked home made, looked great

Skully, I know it's because I don't know where to look, but I can't find headlight stone guards on their site.. in any event, the only way I know of to secure those is with the tabs that fit under the headlight bezel. I don't think I've seen any other attachement.

Got mine at finishline but have seen them at Pep Boys. Here is another source: http://www.4wheelparts.com/prodDetai...rtno=T%2fD9132
Comes with 2 sets of 8 bezel mounted holders, 4 per side, 2 different lengths.
Hold fine but.... some convex headlights force you to do some bending of the screen.

They used a couple of knurled nuts and a simple bracket each side.

Skully 09-06-2010 10:45 PM

When you say knurled nuts , what are they? That is the bracket system I was looking for.

Danr55 09-07-2010 01:44 AM

Skully, a knurled nut is a round threaded cylinder with a crosshatching cut on the outside so it can me installed by hand without the use of a wrench. Usually about 3/8 inch long in that particular size, if that's what Nick was referring to.

Skully, don't worry about headlight rock guards, what I need while driving in Arizona is Windshield Rock Guards!
Driving with you guys for only 2 seasons produced more chips and one crack, which was repaired by Safelite, than 5 years of driving in Illinois.
It's probably because I'm always following Danr whose sticky tires are always flinging pebbles at me.

Well Ralphie, at least if you were following Danr, you weren't going very fast. He's usually following Mikiec and we all know how SLOW that is.

RedSnake351 09-07-2010 09:31 AM

Well Karl, that is why a person should be a leader, not a follower. Leaders never get their windshields cracked! :D

Ralphie, It's not the tires flinging pebbles at you... it's the driver ahead of you.:rolleyes::cool:

It very well might be, petrified rabbit turds.

Danr55 09-07-2010 05:04 PM

Why petrified? He just thinks it's bugs scattered all over his windshield.

If you have a good local hardware store they should have the knurled thumb nuts. If not try here http://www.mcmaster.com/#thumb-screw-nuts/=8ryzy4
or go from the other end

You could try McFadden-Dale Industrial Supply for the knurled nuts in Phoenix. They are South of the airport, off I-10 on 40th St (I think).
