Questions: FFR Door Latch

The pressed fitting on the left door latch of my FFR keeps breaking. Questions:
  1. Is this a known problem?
  2. Is there an easy fix?
  3. Does anybody have a left latch available for sale?

Thanks,
Dale

I pull them apart, epoxy and rerivet them.

Dale:
Here's a link to a fix for the problem. You're not alone.
Replacement latches can be had by (I think) Cobra Resotrers but they can be spendy.

I did both of mine years ago using Wades method. Cost was about 75 cents each latch.

Did the Wade fix too and it works great. Now all I have to do is quit losing those little screws that hold the covers on and drill and tap the knob on the driver's side latch that fell off.
Those UK-made parts are just wonderful....

I use a spot of silicone on the teensy cover screws. Those darn things sound like the suspensions falling out when the covers come loose.

Yeah can you believe how much racket they can make! I ended up putting some closed cell, stick-backed foam inside 'em and using blue Loctite on the screws. Still found one missing the other day.

The cheap doors on these things are useless as in useless! If I knew what I know now I would have had them fiberglassed closed. It is easier to just step over anyway and .....that's right...no burned legs!:eek::LOL:%/

Fitz, isn't stepping over the door kinda hard to do since you have the hard top on so much? You must be VERY flexible, and at your age!

I've never heard of this problem, it is unique to FFR's. Or, is it unique to the latches that FFR supplies?

What top?
