Thanks for the info. and correction. I don't think the paperwork and BS is worth it for me but maybe after having a couple I would be proved wrong again. Jeff C

You don't want to surrender the things that are required to secure that tax stamp. At least, I don't.

No I havent sold it yet. XD 9mm Sub Compact with the carry case, lock, holster, total of 4 clips, 3 of which are extra capacity(16+1)"I will make you a deal you can't refuse"
For $425, I will throw in a 2 gun safe I have (paid $150)
I did go ahead and buy my new toy anyway (sale I couldn't resist. I picked up a 9 mm H&K).

Ron, thanks for the offer on the safe but I don't need one. Just the original XD package. I'm available Saturday all day. I don't have your phone number. My cell number is 623-363-5269. I'll even look at the safe.

Bob,
Glad it went to a good home. You will enjoy it. It is a great little gun. My wife (and I ) are going to enjoy the new toy but if you ever get a burr up your saddle to sell your 44 magnum, give me first chance, okay?
Thanks again and Merry Christmas,
Ron

Thanks Ron. Yup, it's going to a good home, mine. Gonna put a bow on it and put it under the tree for Xmas. 16 rounds of 9mm in a mini carry? Whoa Baby! I want one of those Hollywood semi-autos that never need reloading.
Still hoping Santa leaves me a long gun too.

Vettster, that's.not exactly right. A silencer is allowed with a class III tax stamp. I know where there is a MAC 10, with silencer and barrel extension that can be transferred with a CIII stamp.

Danr,
Fitz is pimpin some new holster and tagged a few old posts to put the word out. The post you replied to was started on 11/26/10 then a silencer and suppressor got added. On 12/01/10 I claimed silencers etc. were illegal (without the paperwork they will get you a boyfriend named Bubba or room and board at the least). If you are a class 3 FFL then no problem.

Mikie
Do you want to sell that Ruger or trade it. I am interested if the price is right. My old Security Six is broke and I don't know where to have it fixed.

The process in most states includng Arizona requires that the local primary law enforcement office perform an extensive background check on you after you have submitted the proper paperwork including a set of finger print cards. After this approval process, the ATF Forms, finger print cards and $200.00 is submitted to the NFA branch of the ATF for processing. They submit the info to the FBI for another background check. Once all the paperwork is processed by the ATF and FBI (currently running about 90-120 days) the tax stamp will be issued identifying the serial number of the suppressor, caliber, etc. and you can take possession of your new goody.
There should be several examples for sale at this weekends gun show in the Small Arms Review Building.
Trust me when I say they are great fun.

Can one of these weapons, [i.e. a Ruger Bullnose, .22 caliber, with built in silencer], be purchased at one of the various gun shows without any questions being asked, or is that an absolute no-no? John, AKA, tin-man

Absolute NO-NO. Unless you want LOTS of ATF guys at your house.
You and BUBBA will have a great time in prison.
