GT40 on a rotisserie
Well here it is ! The little item that make easy work for old guys with bad backs. Just a pull of a pin and around she goes.

I'm real happy the way it work and it only cost a $100 and 6 hours time.

Aw gee, I was gettin' hungry when you mentioned rotisserie. But come to think of it, you always feed me when I come to your house. What a deal!

What a neat idea. I take it that you just used two engine stands?

Yes I used two 1000 lbs stands. The upright was cut at the base and a new piece of rectangular tubing welded on then I slipped the cut off piec inside it. That is so that I could adjust the hight of the stand. also I bought four casters that swivel and replaced the two on each stand that didn't swivel. Works like a charm! The stands and casters came from Harbor Frieght. The steel I got at the local steel salvage yard for $15. Hersh:) |
Hersh, you have way to much time on your hands. Start building it already. You've had it for 2 weeks, I expected you to be half done by now.

That looks great-- Great idea-- I don't want to be an alarmist but-- Looking at the picture-- When the chassis is rotated so that it is at 90% from its natural position-- it looks a little precarious-- Would there be any merit in adding some 2 foot "outriggers" to the stands-- You could easily take a 4-6 foot piece of steel tubing and insert it through each back tube in the widest part of the engine stand (the tube where the wheels attach) and 2 bolts will hold it in place-- -- the only issue is a possible trip hazzard-- but -- I think a good precaution-- then if the whole thing decides to tip- over -- the outrigger will save the day- the chassis and possibly your butt-- Just a thought--from a concerned Cobra owner-- I definitely am anxious to visit and have a real look see-- Will be back in town for the winter in about 3 weeks-- PS-- My car is now in primer and is "backing out" in the sun for about 2 weeks--Looks awesome! It happens to be in Mesa-- Jim |

Believe me it would take two men and a boy to push this thing over. The stability is really good. It rotates with the greatest of ease. It may appear top heavy but it really is far from it. Well it seems you're moving right along with the project. That terrific Jim. I hope it goes smoothly so you can come out and join the rest of us in the fun. Just got back from looking at Hershal's rotisserie. Actually looks good and seeme to be doing the job. Now speaking of THE JOB....At the rate he is working on this GT40 it won't be ready until DVSF V. :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE:
