Finally

After 13 months I got my car back from repair done under warranty by Roush and it's running good. Man, what an ordeal. I have to break in the engine again since virtually every internal part has been replaced and the cylinders bored .005 over. Kudos to the K&N corporation (Rich Dwyer, you're the man), Hot Rods by Dean (thanks Charlie) and Mark Yagelo at Roush for their invaluable help throughout all this.

Congratulations Sandy. I feel your pain from your long wait. We all hope your future has next to no engine problems again, ever. We'll all see you soon. You have been missed. Today at the picnic, Richard said he has had some engine related question with his Roush 427 powered Daytona Coupe and we agreed Charlie was the guy to go to.

Were your problems due to the mis-calibration of the DFI controller? It took over a year to get mine fixed and I finally did it by taking it to a Accel DFI trained guy. Roush was no help - I sent the whole car back to them and they futzed around with it for 2 months and shipped it back and said it ran fine. It didn't change anything. The guy in Ft. Collins and I analyzed the problem to root cause to be the altitude table never being set up. They offered to refund my money but never did. I won't buy another.

I did not say Richard had problems, just questions. We will see how it turns out.

Oh man, it's been so long I forgot about that and didn't bid those days off but I checked the dates, April 29 thru May 1, and by golly I HAVE THOSE DAYS OFF! I had a blast last time I went, even though my hands cramped up from gripping the wheel too hard trying to keep up on that run between Kingman and Seligman. Remember that guy driving the compact with his wife and kids in the car who tried to get by the semi by passing it on the right using the shoulder of the freeway and the semi driver got pissed and veered into the shoulder and about ran the guy off the road? Hah! If I remember it right I think I saw Mikie give the trucker a thumbs-up for that.

Oh yeah, I'll be there.

Sandy,

Send me an email if you are going to rte 66

You have got to be kidding !!!

How the hell can anybody stay in business that takes 13 months to fix a fricking engine...Is that " normal " ?...

csx4910 04-03-2011 05:41 PM

It is Simple. Roush makes money hand over fist with selling new motors, so warranty work takes a back seat while they try to blame everyone and everything else but themselves for the problems with their motors. If they have to warranty and pay for the repairs themselves, they can take as long as they want without any real recourse available to the rest of us other than to warn you not to buy their motors.

Is Roush also having problems with the 451FE motor?

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 04-03-2011 06:22 PM

Sandy, if you are planning to come on the Route 66 run alone I still have an empty bed in my room. I offered it to Scotty at the picnic and he made some wierd faces.
Just makes our expenses less.

Sandy, yep, I truly understand the frustration, since it happened to me, what should have been a two month delivery turned into and eight month ordeal. The current wait is attributable to fitment issues with the power steering motor being too close to the glass sidewall and thus the sidewall needs needs modification. Install time so far four months.:eek::eek:

Hopefully we can meet up sometime in June.

Cheers, John, AKA, tin-man

See you there.
