Engine is in

Got the engine, trans and drive shaft all hooked up. Thing looks pretty nice now. Only took us 2 tries (nothing goes in once, hell more like 4-5 times).
Target date up and running is Fall/Winter/Spring 201?
Oh yeah that's Karl and his 6yr old open bottle of dessert wine

That explains the wine.

Karl probably bought the wine 6 years ago for 99 cents and kept it for a special occasion.

Karl Bebout 06-22-2011 02:11 PM

99 cents for the whole case! Nuttin but the best for me and my friends.

Danr55 06-22-2011 02:49 PM

Must be ChamPipple.. That's a combination of 7up and Ripple.. Fred Sandfors's favorite.

ItBites 06-22-2011 03:00 PM

Wow Karlos, motor plate and all... You must be gettin serious about the 1320. I'm gonna have to step it up or get beat!

RedSnake351 06-22-2011 07:13 PM

Very Nice, Karl! It's about time you opened that bottle!
AND that the engine is finally in also!!! :3DSMILE:

Ralph :p

Karl Bebout 06-22-2011 07:21 PM

Eric, went with the fron mounting plate so I could use larger tube headers. I'd had tiny little 1 3/4" and got some 2" Headman block huggers. Should be better. Just couldn't justify dropping a ton on some custom made pipes. I've got almost enough power, without trying to squeeze every last ounce of it. The car will knock off 98% of the competition and still be nicely streetable, especially now that I have an OD transmission that'll make cruising a lot better.

dave from mesa 06-22-2011 09:28 PM

What he said.
Except maybe the "nicely streetable". Still gonna be a beast.

*13* 06-22-2011 09:50 PM

Always a big step! Looks nice!

Mike Brasfield 06-23-2011 03:23 PM

Wow, what a shinny engine compartment. Looks real nice Karl.

RedSnake351 06-23-2011 04:19 PM

Mike B, did you mean "Shinny" or did you mean "Sh!tty?":confused::LOL::LOL:

Shinny
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Not to be confused with Shinty.

Shinny (also shinney) is an informal type of hockey played on ice or the street. There are no formal rules or specific positions, and generally, there are no goaltenders. The goal areas at each end may be marked by nets, or simply by objects, such as blocks of snow, stones, etc. Bodychecking and lifting or "roofing/reefing/raising the puck" (shooting the puck or ball so it rises above the ice) are often forbidden because the players are not wearing protective equipment.

Ralph:o

Danr55 06-23-2011 05:27 PM

No Ralph, SHINEY like the top of your head!...Of course that could also be pointed, but that doesn't even sound close!

Hi Karl, and what type of OD transmissions would that be? I have had some recent experience with OD transmissions: over drive, floating drive, not sure which drive, stay in first drive and does not even drive. So just curious.

tin-man is back in China.

All things considered, you have a wonderful sense of humor.

Hi Tinner, My new tranny is a 4L80e that is not electrically controlled. I didn't want to spend the additional big bucks it would have been to get the computer to run it electronically. Hughes Racing Transmissions, here in Phoenix, built it for me. I've been running one of their TH400 tranny for years, without any problems, and I am just a little harsh on it. The new tranny is pretty much just like the TH400 but has the 4th gear 25% OD. They built it with all the super HD goodies like the TH400 so I'm anticipating getting the same good service out of it.

Thanks patrickt, its a Brit thing. That said, like everyone else I can get more than pissed and right now its simmering. Also, I am reminded I am in China and there is not a lot I can do except report my experiences on Club Cobra as a warning to those people who may be contemplating buying an engine and transmission. If the car gets fixed by Christmas when I retire I can live with that, if it doesn't work and we have more of the same, well thats when the s**t will hit the fan. I am thinking what has happened here has got to be a real marketing problem for Roush and Bowler and I intend to keep the pressure on. tin-man

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 06-25-2011 10:04 AM

The Bowler trans is a 4R70W Ford AODE transmission. Originally handled 500 ft lbs of torque in the Expedition, but is re-worked to handle more at Bowler. Final drive standard is .70. Here is a brief description: AODE and 4R70W Transmission FAQs - Baumann Electronic Controls, LLC
Correct me if I'm wrong here.
