Hey Danr55, can I bring along a friend who will be driving his 928 ? And, the "host hotel" is the "America Best Value Inn" in Springerville, is that correct ?

Danr55 08-30-2011 06:00 AM

Yes and Yes. I won't be embarrassed to be seen with a Porsche. I'm fair and believe in diversity. Afterall, one of my best friends drives a Chevette. ... or is it Corvette? I keep forgetting.

Danr55 09-01-2011 08:27 AM

I don't know who it is. You'll have to ask Tucson John. It's one of his friends..

Haven't seen a Porsche I couldn't beat. That's what the NOS is for. Never saw a 917 on the street though. John said it was a 928. Still welcome to join us. A car guy is a car guy.

the 917/30 PORSCHE is not a street car only five were build by R Penske, at 1150 hp
they called them the Turbo Panzer, and killed Can AM racicing known as Group 5 cars.
No one was able to competed with the 917/30. Engine was 5.4 liter, 12 cylinder, air cooled,
twin turbo chargers, 4 speed gear box, 0 to 60, 2.1 sec. Of course the frist gear was good for 81 miles an hour. Look up 917/30 records on the internet. I saw them racing in CA.
And remember Ken Miles 427 Cobras, then the Mecoms boys beat them with the Grand Am Corvettes only five were build thru the back door, and GM killed the program

Danr55 09-05-2011 03:59 PM

I know we have four going on this trip. Two from the Valley and two from Tucson. Anyone else getting in? We'd hate to leave you in Superior if you're late.

John-Tucson 09-05-2011 08:44 PM

Dan, it looks like we will have three coming up to Superior for breakfast. Where is the restaurant ? If you only have two going to attend then I'll call this drive the "Challenge" event for 2011. I have looked at the weather forecast for Eager and it's going to be COLD ! High between 66 and 70 with a low of 42 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dress warm.

Danr55 09-06-2011 06:45 AM

John, Los Hermanos is in the west end of Superior next to the rest stop. If you want to call this the Challenge, then that's between you and Mikie. I don't get involved in finance matters.
