1st Ride

Short as it may be. At least the trans went in all the gears. Got the exhaust put on but not couldn't get it aligned. Needs to have ball joints and bushings replaced. One more thing down. One more thing closer to being done.

Nicely centered on the trailer... Karlos, you need to get more seat time!

mikiec 11-04-2011 01:26 PM

Why did you guys not change out the bushings and ball joints when the body was off. You only had 3 years to do it.

Karl Bebout 11-04-2011 02:46 PM

Mikiec...2 1/2 years, 2 1/2. Didn't realize the ball joints were bad until I put it on the alignment rack yesterday, otherwise, woulda changed them out. They were only 5 years old and certainly didn't have many miles on them. Must have worn them out when the front wheels would come back down on the drag strip. ha. Oh well, It'll be one of the easier jobs we've had to do. Moog parts ordered from Summit today, should get them Monday or Tuesday. Will have to yank the upper A-arm bushing to measure its size and will then go with Energy Suspension neoprene for better life. Eric, my navigator wasn't paying attention when I pulled the car up onto the trailer. I was watching my LF tire to be sure I was on the plank. But yes, I do need a lot more seat time.

Danr, are these distinguished fine upstandin' gents retired or just playin' hookey from work?

Cheers, John,AKA, tin-man

Tinner, the steering wheel is just round but the thing that makes it better is the Chevy emblem on the center button (yet to be installed). We work on the car three days a week, but yes, we are all retarded, er, retired.
Wonder why there's not any indication that if you click on the picture a video comes up? Maybe I'm just not smart enough to automatically know that. Danr, I keep waiting for my pony tail to grow enough that I can use it for a comb-over. Probably won't see that in my lifetime.

Fitz 11-05-2011 03:44 PM

Does Karl still have a car?

Maricopa 11-06-2011 12:46 AM

Just another trailer queen. ;)

mikiec 11-06-2011 10:59 AM

Karl,

You can get spare parts for your NAF. The owner's widow is selling all the stuff.

Mike

Karl Bebout 11-06-2011 01:14 PM

Jack sure had a bunch of stuff but can't really think of anything I'd want. After all the trials and tribulations we've had with my car, I'm not about to get into another project....at least for a while. Gotta get mine finished before thinking about anything else.

Wow, I just read this reply, kinda late, but I did not realise there was a video linked to the picture. First after, what was it, five years, congratulations Karl, but I gotta tell ya pal, your driving is challenged, it took you three attempts just ta back it outa the garage, and then Jeeez, you made two attemps at hitting the trailer ramp and almost had your left wheel fall off the track.:eek::eek:

I am afraid your ho, will eat ya alive when its finally finished. ;)
Cheers, tin-man

Ron61 11-21-2011 06:24 AM

That will be a nice car and it sure sounds good. Why not have Dave edit the first post and put a line in telling people that if they click on the picture they will go to the video.

Ron :)
