JP, when you come to AZ for a look, be sure to check out Lake Havasu City, this is one of the best places in AZ to live. I've been here ten years and it just keeps getting better.
There is the lake of course, boating, fishing, kayaking, on going local events, casinos's, numerous car clubs, car shows and crusies, and the weather is AZ perfect. Your also closer to California and Nevada than elswhere in the state. There are about 6 cobra's in town, many Vipers and Vetts. folks that love sports cars.
Check it out. Bill

JP.....what's your status?

My Wife Deb and I are on Vacation the week of March 18th. We are going to ride up to Las Vegas and spend the night and then roam around AZ. Now our retirement is not imminent. We still have 15 to 20 years to go. We like to plan ahead. I am the kind of person that needs to see the light at the end of the tunnel so I have something to look forward to. We still want to check out the local fare, housing, economy, weather, crime, costs, etc. We also want to hook up with you people along our way and meet. That would be fun. As it gets closer to our depart date I'll check in.

In 15 to 20 years the entire southwest may be given back to Mexico.

Mikie, don't you read? Mexico will cease to exist on 12/21/12. The Maya said so.

Different strokes for different folks. It's nice that people like different places. While working I started in California and ended up being transferred around the world. We ended up living in California several times, Texas 3 times, Colorado twice, New Orleans and overseas a couple of times. When it was time to retire we looked in Texas, Nevada and California. We ended up in a gated community in Northern California. It's just over an hour from the Sacramento airport in the foothills towards Lake Tahoe. There's a 300 acre lake, golf course, tennis courts, club house and plenty of parks on the lake. Houses sell for under $100,00 to several million. Now I agree that in general California housing and taxes are high and the politics suck but it's hard to beat the weather and scenery.
