California Cobra

Someone is interested in buying a Cobra registered in CA as a 2005 special construction on SB100. How can he avoid registering in AZ as a 2005? Which DMV should he go to? Can he get it registered as a 1965 to avoid smog checks?
He lives in the Phoenix area.
Thanks
AZ Bob

Maybe at the office in Mesa. It's worth a check anyway.

May ask at the MVD. You don't have to go to that one except for info. It may not be a big deal.

Both Dave and I moved here from CA. My was build using the SB100 in CA and I had it registered here with no problem at the Mesa MVD off the 60 and Greenfield. It was transferred over to AZ and is still smog exempt. It is registered as a special contracted auto in 1965 style. All smog required is what was being done in 1965.
