Cobra kit for sale in Phoenix.
While driving through Phoenix today, Sunday, Oct. 14th, I picked up The Arizona Republic and found this add: 65 427 COBRA Body & Chassis kit. Ready to bolt susp on, will fit big or sml blk. Body off orig mold $7000 obo 480-326-7649. Does anyone know if this is an unhappy builder? Or what kit it is? I'll be calling a friend here in Tucson to see if he's interested in it. John-Tucson PS. Marketing techniques????
Not only has the add been in the paper for a while, last week he went UP $500. It was listed for $6500. for weeks. I think he read somewhere, ....beware of cheap Cobras.... so he upped the price. I may go look, he is close.

Speaking of looking for a kit...
I'm interested in looking at something locally in the Phx area, kit-wise. What would be a good kit (as I cannot afford a complete Superformance)? Also, what are the handling ramifications for choosing a big block verses small block? My thinking is to select a great all-around engine/chassis combination maximising handling vs. all-out HP... Appreciate any help as I'm a complete newcomer... Thanks, - Mark |

Yup..his shop is just about where you think it is. South side of Curry about 1/4 mile west of Scottsdale rd. It is in an industrial park. I beleive it is the richmond industrial park. all the way down on the right side. You will see lots of cobras there plus a GT40. Mike |
Mark, get over to Gordon's shop before you make any decisions. On Sunday, Dec. 9th the Arizona Cobra Club is having a meeting / party - check the previous messages for the info. Call or email Mike C. and he will have all of the information for you. There are quite a few big blocks in the Phoenix area. Jerry Nanson lives in Chandler and he is a really good guy who will fill you in on all of the details about building a FFR Cobra. See you on the 9th. John-Tucson

I think you are just a little over sensitive. I read no critizism on the cobra you are selling. The posters were only advising a potential buyer to beware of a product that is not known and with a price that's too good to be true. When people notice a price change that goes up it just adds to the mystery. Especially in an ad that appears to be an individual selling his project not a business. It may be that your Cobra frame and body are superior to the others. If so then you should welcome the scrutiny of a well educated consumer. The word cheap is by no means a critizism of your product. FFR's are cheap in comparison to most but they are well built cars for the money. As far as donor built...they all are donor built as far as I'm concerned. You gotta get those suspension parts off of something. Good luck in your building endevours and I wish you success. Hersh:) PS... IF this Peyton Place guy is who I think he is...he could teach us all about the fiberglass business... ...Could we get a name? I also own a Hi-Tech 427 fiberglass body, and it is accurate to a fault. I built my own tube (sq & rd) frame using a professional tig and mig welder at $50 hr! My only complaints about the body were minor; cosmetic gel-coat / and lack of fiberglass compaction in certain areas...but workable. BTW; I sell fiberglass products to the industry... I would concentrate on the frame, measure flatness and squareness, and check the welds. scratch |
Hello Peyton Place, the guy here in Tucson still has not committed himself to a kit. I've not heard of your company before. Do you have any literature about your cars that you can send out? Is the engine compartment set up for any particular engine ? Can I assume that you are using a 90" wheelbase ? What suspension does it take, newer Mustang ?, Mustang II, or ? I get up into Phoenix every few weeks and would like to see your product sometime after the Holidays. Do you have a demo car there? Thanks, John-Tucson
