Newbie introduction/car inbound!

Hey folks,
I'm a first time owner, but no stranger to being a car nut; my new ( to me, albeit I'm 2nd owner ) SPF MKIII is on its way to me from FL this week. I live in Cave Creek area, and my other fun car is a red '65 fastback. I'm not too much of a "joiner" but I look forward to see what the local community is like, and meet other owners/Cobra fans.
If she gets here by Sat, I may cruise out somewhere ( pavilions perhaps ) to show her off :D

Best,
Robert (BMF)

Congratulations on your SPF purchase Robert. Always nice to have another Cobra in the Cave Creek area. Look forward to meeting you. :)

Thanks and wow nice ride, Keith! Love the vintage look and vibe; mine doesn't have the same look, a little more "modern" approach...I'm not worthy HAHA!

Robert, welcome to the clan. Another Bob with an SPF? Who'd of thought? You will find your new toy is on a whole nother level of smile than your 65 coupe. Just wait. Be careful until you get used to it. I know you think you'll be OK but, take it easy and increase play slowly. Your next step is an F-18.

Agreed, Bob- I appreciate the advice.
In fact, the impetus behind getting the SPF was me missing the visceral ( and let's face it, scary fun at times ) feeling of my Harleys; got knocked off one yrs ago by a less than desired member of society in a Lincoln. I'm fortunate to be alive.
Decided it's hard to get knocked off a car, so I went back to the auto hobby.
The Cobra provides the open air, vibe and power to weight ratio my Fastback cannot...plus its' the damn sexiest body style! :MECOOL:
I've driven several on my way to select mine, and have been around cars all my life, so I have deep respect and understanding of what they can do.

I'm home the next two full weeks with little to do ( I travel much for work ) so if anyone's going to be around to shake hands and show off cars I'd like to see what's out there in the community.

Cheers,
R

BMF:

Welcome, and congratulations on your new ride. If you are looking for some company this weekend during your "test run" let me know. I own SPF #2985 and am also located in Cave Creek.

Hi Robert,

My name's Rich (SPF 1406 Red/White stripe) I also live in Cave Creek (Troon North area actually). Maybe all of us can take our cars to the Venues Cafe on Saturday mornings and hang out for coffee/breakfast with the hot rod gang that's there every Saturday. Good group of guys...

Appreciate the kind welcome from all; once the car's in my garage, cleaned up and ready to go I'd definitely meet up for a "cars n' coffee" type thing.
When my busy work season is on ( Spring/Summer ) , I'm away most weekends; that's when I take advantage of having weekdays/nights off for cruises!

Best,
Robert

I just move to Troon North/ Cave Creek, so how are the cops with all the no loud noise signs and these cars?

BMF 10-24-2012 08:58 PM

decibels

I'll have to take a few test readings ( idle, 2K inside the car, ten feet away at cruise when driving by, WOT, etc ) with my dB meter phone app to have an educated idea and a friendly chat when I get pulled over...
I've had loud Harleys and have for years regularly cruised up through the 'Creek with zero problems; I've also used responsible and prudent throttle twisting habits in town.
