Exhaust question
Myth or fact
Old hot rodders trick for louder side pipes.
remove the side pipes, pour a little gas down the tube, light, roll the pipe to burn the angle hair inside glass pac put the fire out and reinstall, start and drive the car.

I have herd this also but a little diffrent. Use white gas(coleman lantern fuel) then just put the pipes back on and let the motor heat burn out the angel hair.

Jeff Classic would know. Wait till he replies. If you have enough patience your pipes will get louder with age. Mine did.

Most of the mufflers I have taken apart did have a fiberglass mat or something resembling it in addition to baffles. The material over time shrinks and the air between strands seems to disappear making it more dense so less effective or louder. I would bet gas would not do a darn thing as it would not get hot enough ??? No ideas here.
My exhaust builder uses stainless wool to build his muffler with a ceramic mat also part of his muffler. He told me cheaper materials can melt into BB like objects that rattle and blow out the pipes.

Ask Fitz, what Gordon did to his pipes to get so loud you could hear him idle 3 miles away.
