Bruce jinxed it.

At last nights show Bruce said to me.. I thought the car was supposed to be up on blocks. I told him it was during the day.

On the way home the FFR decided it wanted to be back on blocks, because Burce said so, and refused to go any further. Jeff happened by and we, him, determined that the coil was shot.

I went over to Jeff's today and borrowed a coil he had installed it and the car was happy again. Replaced the old dead coil with a new one and all is well with the world again.

A big thanks to Jeff.

I was headed home and found el hefe stuck without a working cell phone. Seems the Old Grey Ghost (the car) needed a coil. I have seen more coils fail, I can name 5 cars in just our gang. Just don't believe all I have read about position making no difference. On my cars I mount coil in vertical (never horizontal) and on the passenger side of the firewall. I believe the old Motorcraft coils were built different than what is available today, can't prove it but,

How did you get the Old Grey Ghost home without fire? Flatbed?
Maybe we should all carry a spare coil in the trunk.

Actually, it's red. :D

Karl Bebout 06-20-2013 09:23 PM

Being shiney was a dead give away that it wasn't Mikiec's car.

Finallygotit 06-21-2013 10:11 AM

Mikie, are you going to take that? ;)

Karl Bebout 06-21-2013 10:24 AM

Mikiec cannot dispute. He polishes his car with 000 steel wool, hoping people will think its a brushed aluminum Kirkkkkham.

Fitz 06-22-2013 12:16 PM

Asked myself .....self where is my coil mounted? Went out and looked and discovered it is on passenger side vertical position. You can count me as one that replaced his. It was old so I had Bob Reams change it out when he dialed in the new carburetor I put on along with regulator and lines / pump. %/:rolleyes:
