Yarnell Wildfire

19 firefighters killed and 250 structures lost in the area. The AZ Cobras have a special love for this little town and this is some terrible news. :(

Prayers to all

This was quite a shock to me. My Bro-in-law is a firefighter in Utah.
Prayers to all those who passed, and to their families.

I am a former AZ DPS officer. I also grew up with our family having a cabin in Crown King which is in the same general area. I love it there.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families. Very sad.

There was a photo in today's AZ Republic of a firetruck spraying the roof of our favorite restaurant we eat at up there in Yarnell to insure it survives.

I just got home from a weekend in Colorado. We heard about this driving through New Mexico. My heart goes out to all the firefighters familys.

I had friends that lived there, right off the highway, for many years but are now in Prescott. Their son still lives there outside the town in a small trailer on a couple acres but I haven't heard anything about whether he was affected or not.

Arizona Cobras will know this place.

That looks like a preemptive measure. I certainly hope so.

Once the fire is out, I plan on taking a ride up there.

That fire and the deaths are really tragic. We had 6 deaths here in our last fire which was about the same as what happened there except not nearly so many. I have been trying to keep up with it but our so called local news sucks. All they want to talk about is what they did last weekend.

I hope that they can soon get it contained and the town doesn't burn completely. We lost one whole town and over half of another in our last big fire a couple of years ago.

Best wishes to all of you and my prayers for the ones who died and their families.

Ron :(

I'm in Prescott. All 19 of the Hot Shots killed are from here.; took out 20% of our firefighters. The town is just devastated/heartbroken by this; puts a real wrinkle in the 4th and the Rodeo celebrations, which are normally happy events for the town. Went to a town meeting yesterday; everyone is pitching in, families will be well taken care of by local and national help, but that's little compensation for their loss.

If you've a mind to assist in any way, either to the firefighter's families or the Yarnell folks, good, legit options are to be found at: Granite Mountain Hotshots - City of Prescott, Arizona.:(
