Strangely enough, this thread seems like one that Patrick would post and then conveniently insert his dog Ellie into it.

We must be bored around here.

Actually, I've named all my cars Darryl. So I can say, this is my car "Darryl and my other car Darryl and finally my other car Darryl." :3DSMILE:

Being a bit strange, most of our vehicles have always had both names and gender. We presently have 3 guys and 3 girls in the family. Christine, Tina, and Vibora are girls.
  • Christine: a Dakota Sport 4x4 named after the obsessive, murdering lead character (a 1958 Plymouth Fury) in a Stephen King story and movie of the same name.
  • The Jeep: my wife's vehicle, a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland [My wife's name is also Christine, so she should probably be driving the truck. Perhaps she's reluctant to do so because in the story the car Christine tried to kill the owner's girl friend out of jealousy]
  • Tina: a Prius named after the psychotic doll "Talky Tina" in the 1963 Twilight Zone episode "Living Doll" [Yes, Tina has a voice command system and like the doll defies my every command but responds to my wife just fine.]
  • The Blue Thing (as sarcastically named by my wife when I brought him home) or Sidewinder (as named by my son after a couple of spectacular on-track spin-outs): a Dodge Viper GTS race car
  • Vibora: a Dodge Viper SRT10 (the name is Spanish for Viper.)
  • Little Cobra: our baby boy, unimaginatively named after the Rip Chords' 1964 song, "Hey Little Cobra"

I do not ever want to hear that song again. Spent a full weekend in London Ohio listening to that song for at lease 1000 times. I don't think the rip cords know any others.

A one hit wonder, I think. Your problem was probably not the song, but rather the unfortunate state of being in the miserable State of Ohio.
Go Blue

Fast289 09-10-2013 08:04 PM

Agreed, my ex wife is from Ohio.

My FFR coupe is black with white stripes and I named her "Elvira" after Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (she was the hostess of late night horror shows many years ago).

Mikie, Do you know the story of the woman who wrote "Lil Cobra"? She was a friend of Carroll Shelby's and he told her he would give her a car if she wrote a song about the car that got on the charts.. If I recall the aritcle, she still has and drives that car!

mikiec 09-11-2013 06:38 AM

I have heard that before. Driving is great... Listening to that song not so great.

Probably heard that song more times at the Spring Fling than records sold.

bran3b 09-11-2013 08:32 AM

Of my cars only 2 have names. The names came on their own, the cobra doesn't have one yet.

My MGB is "Burrito" because I was supposed to be picking up burritos on the way home, instead I bought an MG.

My Porsche 928 is "Scooby Snacks" or Scooby for short. In it's past life the car was a bank robbery getaway car (the story that was told to me) so the name "Scooby Snacks" in reference to a song by the "Fun Lovin' Criminals."

Finallygotit 09-11-2013 08:11 PM

I just call it "The Little Car". For some reason, people who don't know that I have the Cobra are a little stunned when I pull up in it.

Danr55 09-11-2013 11:26 PM

"the little car".. I thought maybe they expected a Yugo... or a Corvette..

mikiec 09-12-2013 06:41 AM

I call mine... The car that gets driven unlike Karl's

What is this "Corvette" you speak of? :D

Danr55 09-12-2013 03:46 PM

Corvette is defined as a smallish domestic vehicle usually driven to improve ones self esteem. It is descerned from a cactus by the location of the pricks. Cactii have them on the outside. That is similar to Porsches, Audi's and other penile extensions. Corvettes are frequently confused with Chevettes which are also domestic products.

Finallygotit 09-12-2013 05:58 PM

OK, I wasn't expecting that. That was good!

Wow, I'm surprised you're not driving one of those then.

(Got you first, resistance is futile)

Danr55 09-14-2013 06:49 PM

I never expected you to drive one, because Corvettes have big motors instead of the cute little blue ones.....

chiefshocker 09-30-2013 05:23 PM

We call it "Justified 4.0" because its the 4th car i've had to justify to my wife.
