Blast from the Past Car Show/Cruise-Alpine
We just finished a trip we started in Sept but broke down just past Safford. Made it to Hannagan Meadows. On a side trip we visited Alpine home of the
"Blast from the Past Car show" held each Memorial Day. This is a one day show limited to 125 pre 1980 Vehicles. Cost is $35 which goes to The Springerville chapter of the Wounded Warriors. Always fills up, but we don't really have to enter the show to take in the event. This would be a great cruise either through the Salt River Canyon or up the Coronado Trail, which is the way we went to/from Hannagan Meadows. Over night in one of many hotels/lodges. Hannagan could accommodate about 8 rooms in the lodge and 7 cabins of various sizes. What a great cruise with a show too. I suspect we could take the all the beds at Hannagan if we put together a sizable group. |
I'd make that show given the recipient of the proceeds..

Same here.
Mike, would you follow up with this when the time is close? |
Or, Chrome in the Dome annual Car show in Eager. April 19 and 20, 2014. Home - Chrome In The Dome AZ
Just introducing an alternate date for essentially the same trip. A bit earlier in the year. AZ Bob |
Let me see....Eager Az in April in an open car with no heater? THAT WOULD TAKE SOME THOUGHT.

Mikiec…I'll be glad to take the lead on this show. I think it would be warmer to take in the Alpine show the end of May that the April Show in Edgar. Also, the Edgar show might have a conflict with the April Pantera track event at Firebird.
I propose the following: Group departure from Idaho Rd/Hiway60 Time TBA Caravan to Globe for gas/bkfst ?? From Globe the group might want to break into two groups Group A: Follow 60 north through the Salt River Canyon to Springerville/Alpine Group B: Head to Safford then north along the Coronado Trail to Hannagan Meadows/Alpine or Springerville. Group A would be for those that have driven the Coronado Trail (long way) before and don't need to test the 400 some curves again. Group B would be for the "spirited" drivers wanting to want a little action in the gears. There are quite a few 2nd gear turns on this route and a really neat drive through the middle of the Springerville copper mine. Let's see of there is any interest from the group. Those of you reading pls comment on route and the overall event idea. Interested YES or NO. |
When is the trip???
400 curves are enticing. Lee |
400 curves....Sounds like a parade with the Rockettes! I'm in, I don't think my GF reads this stuff......
|
I'll attend. Love either route. Probably choose the Salt River Canyon. Then stay on Route 60 to Eager.
