Marlen Motorsports [October possible Bondurant Weekend]

I was going through old treads and saw the 80th Bondurant event. Can't tell you guys how much fun and affordable this weekend was. Most of you missed this and it was cheap for what you got and weather was great. Put jour $25 bucks here and there in your car fund for this event next October (if it happens).

Points:
* this was Not a go out and tear your car up. You could take it real easy and just play with your car or play hard. I lined up in the rear so I wasn't intimidated going out.
* we may admit it or not - most of us do not have the same driving skills we had few years back so knowing the tracks is everything therefore line up in back and spread out. Enjoy the day.
* you will need suit, helmet, shoes for the event. Plan ahead. Think you can rent suits from Bondurant for the weekend as somebody did. Would have to verify that point. $200 driving suits are not in people's budgets for one weekend? {anybody know where you can buy old used suits or rent them?}
* They had a great car show at same place if you did not want to track.
* have your car ""Nut and Bolt"" checked up on a lift. People like Levy and Mike Fransen at 3A Automotive have lifts to inspect. (Check those headers, shocks bolts/nuts and tires). We all have our favorite car caretakers.
* you will not feel the full value of your car if you don't have proper tires. Most of us don't have $ to buy extra set for track so just enjoy the way you have the car set up.
* it will take you a day to feel comfortable so don't be intimated by others to track. Their abilities and confidence are different than yours. Relax and enjoy the moment.
* ride alongs were allowed but it was a bit unclear last year as to which day or days it was allowed. Not quite sure why all days wouldn't be allowed with proper gear? (See above)
** this is a good time to see your real power in action and safely caring it out.

Check craigslist and/or racingjunk.com for used driving suits, gloves, helmets, etc. Bear in mind, that a helmet that is OK for such a track day, may not be sufficient for sanctioned events. I'm familiar only with NHRA and they are pretty stringent about the safety ratings and ages of helmets, harnesses and some other safety items.

Fitz, thanks for the post, it has my blood moving! I missed the 80th party because my car was not completed. I hope another event happens, I will plan vacation around it....

BTW, I might put my 289 on the track next weekend and follow Gordon around chuckwalla. It will be my first track experience with this car. If I do make it and work doesn't call, I will try and figure out my go pro and post some video.

Cheers
