Arivaca , AZ run for coffee, 2-16-14

Everyone is invited to join the Tucson Cobras on a drive to Arivaca, AZ. for coffee this Sunday.
We'll leave from I-10 and Valencia, southeast corner, Chevron gas station.
Leave time will be 10:00am. Please arrive a few minutes early.
Expect to put about 180 miles on your car.
For those who haven't made this run it is via back roads to Amado, AZ and then 23 miles of turns and twists and ups and downs to a coffee shop that is in a 1920's house on the east edge of town. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Temperature wise they are expecting Tucson to hit 90 degrees so bring the hats, long sleeves and lots of lotion.
The return trip is via a seldom used ( except for the Border Patrol) road and triple digit speeds are common.
Total time including coffee will be about 3 1/2 hours.
Hope to see you Sunday.

John, you make me.very sad my car is broken. That sounds like fun!

RedSnake351 02-13-2014 11:08 PM

Dan, now what broke? Does it have something to do with that little floating piece of metal you found?
I think you better have Karlos put a motor in there that is produced by your paint color manufacturer!

Ralph,
Don't you sleep ? 12:08 am on your post ?:JEKYLHYDE

Danr55 02-14-2014 07:34 AM

Ralphie, do the initials FOAD mean anything g to you? I think k it probably has more to do with the rocker arm that broke last year since it is the number 7 cyinder that blew out and it was the exhaust side of #7 that broke.

RedSnake351 02-14-2014 08:08 AM

We shouldn't be hijacking John's thread, sorry John.:o
Scott, I've always been a night owl, my normal sleeping hours are around midnight to eight.
Dan, I'm sitting here trying to decipher FOAD, without luck.

I wish I took auto mechanics in school WTF. In Indy right now ...Holy S... It is cold and lots of snow!

John-Tucson 02-17-2014 08:24 PM

It's done, the coffee and berry pie were great. I hit 105 only once and backed off for the others to catch up. There wasn't a single car in front of us during the 23 miles and we had our own road course. Please don't tell the Phoenix guys, they will be down here and ruin all of the fun.

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 02-17-2014 10:32 PM

True, we attract tickets!

Danr55 02-18-2014 04:55 AM

ONly some of us Bob.. Ralph, Bill, Don, etc etc etc..

mikiec 02-18-2014 06:48 AM

Some of us only get warnings....

John, only 105.. Slow Poke.

Karl Bebout 02-18-2014 09:06 AM

"John, only 105.. Slow Poke."

You know John is all about getting good MPG.

Years ago, on a "spirited" drive from Globe to Show Low with Chris and I, he growled about how our high speeds ruined his gas mileage. Do think he had fun, though. Those two little small block cars blew me away on the curves but I'd catch up on straight aways. hmmm.

BTW, I haven't seen or heard about Chris in years. Anybody know if he's still around or has his car. I remember it had a beautiful self-crafted stainless steel dash and he was a friend of Pink's.

John-Tucson 02-18-2014 09:16 AM

HI Karl, You are correct, I am all about getting good MPG. I fueled up after the driving Sunday and I got 22.8 MPG.
Show up in Wilcox in April and you and I can have a go at it on the track. Pink slips ???

PS. If you want some GOOD German food come on down here on Sunday and drive with us to Sierra Vista. Check out the website "The German Café" in Sierra Vista.

Karl Bebout 02-18-2014 12:18 PM

John, sorry, I'ma chicken on a road course. Now a drag strip is a different story...

My big ole heavy, miniscule braked, nose down thumpa-thumpa just doesn't stop of go around corners very well (desert not withstanding)

I do plan on going to Wilcox, if Mesa Mike wants a co-pilot (aka pit-flunky).
