New garage for Carmen. Thoughts on must have items in her garage?

Greetings.

We are in the new home and I finally have a third garage for Carmen. I am open to suggestions for must have as well as luxury items in the garage.

So far I have a tool box, tools, floor jacks, air compressor, vacuum, wet bar and keg-orator. Anything I am missing?

Comments are welcomed.

Dave from Chandler.

Long work bench, vise, TV and tuner-amp, speakers, lots of lighting, epoxyed floor, small bins, heavy shelving, phone. It never ends. Lift if you have room.

Thanks.

I have music, no tv yet. I have the work bench and vice. I might make a heavier duty work bench though.

I have some good shelves at my warehouse, I will move them to the garage.

I have room for a lift, it will be a luxory down the road sometime.

I will put a blow up doll or two behind the wet bar if Karl ever comes over.

I have several sets of tires, I might hang some shelves from the ceiling to store them.

I don't want the dolls behind the bar!
A lift is the best investment you can make, I think. A fout post will give you an additional parking space, but a twin post will make many jobs easier to get to. I've seen where people have "coffered" their ceiling to make additional clearance for their roll bars and windshield. I, and several people I know have less expensive lifts from "off shore" and they do the job without spending even $2K. Have a build party when you get one, especially since you already have the bar. They are simple to assemble an you should easily finish in 3-4 hours.
I've also found that an epoxy floor finish is well worth the money/effort. Certainly makes clean up easier and looks much better.
Lots of lights.
The more compressed air, and related tools, the better.
Lots of air movement, i.e. fans/AC

Forget the blowup dolls. Get live cheerleaders/bartenders.. Karl would have a lot more help if traded the dolls for live cheerleaders.. Of course there is the spousal issue to contend with.. Maybe more help isn't worth it!

Fast289 09-15-2014 09:54 AM

Danr, we might need to have a build party when spouses are away.....I will look into cheerleaders from Sonny's. They are still a $15 cab ride away from the new home.

Karl, I have really high ceilings in the garage, I will look eventually, but I don't think any modifications will be needed to the ceiling.

I keep forgetting about extra lighting.

Thanks all.

If you have a choice, put outlets everywhere to plug in lights, tools, fans.

Two-Car Garage

We've had a lift for many years, and its been a real asset that I recommend.

Two months ago I looked at the garage floor that was 27 years old and stained with brake fluid, oil, grease, paint drippings, etc. I decided it was time to cover the mess. Given time and projects, over the years the walls had gotten shabby-looking and a myriad of stuff was all over the place. :(%/ It was time to make some changes.

For a number of reasons I opted to install a Racedeck snap-together floor. My wife and I discussed the project and she said the garage was overall a bit 'homey' looking and should be rehabbed. Then the project kind of went ballistic.

First was patching and painting. Just so happened Home Depot had a metal cabinets assembly on sale at the time I was planning the renewal. Then I decided to add surface-mounted T-8 troffer lighting. Then a new vanity, ceiling fan, and my mother-in-law's unused TV was rescued from storage. About 5 weeks later we have a nice, clean garage. The wife and I have 'happy hour' in it several times a week! :D

That should be about all we need to hear on that subject except for a different woman on the TV! Stern.. but then again some people like stern don't they Karl?

Fast289 09-15-2014 04:05 PM

David, thanks. The garage looks like a fine place to have a happy hour. Where are your pipes, the cobra looks bare????

Danr, if I get a tv you can have the remote control!

Thanks everyone.

Dave,
Karl called and wants the Dolls in front of the bar. With Sugarman playing in the background, he just might get to dance. Guys, visualize that ! **):JEKYLHYDE**)

Hey Dave.
The pipes are in the basement. I sold the engine and am waiting for its replacement.

Two days ago I removed the interior to do some upgrades, so the car is dry-docked for a while.

A live in mechanic. And NO LMN on the TV.

Fast289 09-15-2014 05:40 PM

Mikie, you will have the weather channel on!

David,

What engine did you remove and what are you installing?

Dave,
It was a 427 that had been in the car for 20 years. I decided to retire it and up the ante by having Brent Lykins build a Robert Pond based aluminum block engine. Brent started a thread in the FE engine forum to specifically describe this build. Look for it as Lykins 496 FE Build.

Mikie won't be able to get the Weather Channel, just snow on the TV screen.

That's funny. Do TV's even get that anymore? It's sad what our youth's will miss out on!
